The Real Mooshkoo

Before Mooshkoo was a puppet, she was a very special dog. Gracie was our beloved dog, and one of the many nicknames we affectionately called her was “Mooshkoo.” She had a gentle spirit, a playful heart, and a remarkable way of making everyone she met feel loved.

When we began dreaming up this show, we knew there was only one name that felt right. Just like Gracie, Mooshkoo is a rescue dog whose journey begins with searching for a place to call home before finding the family she was always meant to have.

In many ways, creating Mooshkoo has been our way of honoring Gracie’s memory and sharing the unconditional love she brought into our lives.

Meet the Creators

We’re Melisa and Joseph, the creators of Mooshkoo™, an original puppet show built from the ground up through our shared love of storytelling, music, and creativity.

The idea for Mooshkoo was born in early 2020, during a time when people everywhere were longing for hope and connection. We set out to create a timeless puppet show where children could laugh, sing, and discover the universal values of empathy, kindness, friendship, and belonging.

As a husband-and-wife team, we conceived, designed, built, and performed every part of the show ourselves, from creating each character and handcrafting every puppet to writing the scripts and original songs.

We’re honored to share Mooshkoo with children and families around the world. Our hope is that every story, every song, and every character brings joy, sparks imagination, and reminds every child that they belong.

Melisa Sterner

Ever since she was young, Melisa has loved music and performance. She believes stories and songs have a unique way of helping people laugh, feel deeply, and better understand the world around them.

For Melisa, the original songs are at the heart of Mooshkoo, helping each story resonate more deeply and every character feel a little more real. Creating Mooshkoo has given her the opportunity to bring together her love of acting, storytelling, and songwriting into one creative world.
